Self-assessment Life History Report The identity of a person can be influenced by many factors depending on the environment in which they live (Kuada Chachah, 1999). I am a 23-year-old Ghana national. I came to this country in 2002 when I was ten years old, and I am a Christian by religion. Many factors have influenced my current identity and described my values and beliefs. Such factors include gender, sexual orientation, age, family, race and ethnic identification, religious identity, and socio-economic status among many others. These factors have determined the person I am today, and it makes them significant in my life Ghana is a democratic state in which all people are expected to obey the Constitution. That is why I believe in the rule of law and that all people within the country have their rights and freedoms. Ghana has over 100 ethnic groups, which peacefully coexist. These groups vary in population with Akan being the largest which I am a member. In this country, the different ethnic groups are known to have diverse talents such as the craftworks of the Akan tribe in making products such as fertility dolls and hand-carved stools. Family is the basic unit of the society in Ghana, and it provides the primary source of people’s identity. It creates a sense of responsibility and loyalty among people. In Ghana, different ethnic groups have different family values.
